We like to think we have everything you need for a great family vacation!  Sooner or later the wanderlust sets in.. Here are some great day trips if you want to get out and explore the Adirondack Foothills!

Adirondack Museum (Blue Mountain Lake) — A step back in time to life in the Adirondacks when times were really rustic! Dozens of building in a picturesque setting. A day trip.

The Sagamore (Raquette Lake) — Tour one of the majestic Great Camps of the Guilded Age of the “Robber Barons” and discover how the real upper crust camped!

Fort Ricky Children’s Discovery Zoo (Rome) — A great place for kids of all ages to interact with native and some exotic wildlife.

Herkimer Diamond Mines (Herkimer) — Bring your own tools or rent them there — this is fun for all ages and less than a half-hour away!

Enchanted Forest/Water Safari (Old Forge) — Pick a warm day and enjoy the largest water fun park in the state. Discount tickets are available at the Trail’s End Camp Store.

Turning Stone Casino (Oneida) — Gambling, floor shows and dining 24-hours a day. Only 45 minutes from the campground and a fun place to spend the evening for many adults!

Lunch or Dinner Cruise (On Raquette Lake) — Enjoy great food while you have a guided tour of the lake and its colorful history. (Reservations required.)

Adirondack Scenic Railroad (Remsen/Utica/Old Forge) — Pick up the train only 5 minutes away and ride to Old Forge to spend the day and return.

Hiking and Biking — Check with the store staff for information on trailheads just a short drive away.

Horseback Riding (Newport)-- A local stable is only 20 minutes from the campground!

Woodsmen Field Days (Boonville) -- The third week of August every year, Boonville, NY hosts this annual "lumberjack games" style event!

Lots of other ideas can be found by checking out the information rack in the camp store!
